There's no question as to why Steven Spielberg chose the Field Museum as the home base for the savvy archaeologist, Indiana Jones.
With exhibits displaying artifacts that span global history, from Ancient Egypt to the Man-Eating Lions of Tsavo -- not to mention Sue, the Tyrannosaurus rex -- this museum is a must-see. Located in the South Loop, the Field Museum of Natural History is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (although many recent visitors agree that that's not enough time to fully experience all the museum has to offer). Cost of admission varies, depending on your age and which exhibits you want to view, but you should also note that basic admission is free the second Monday of every month and at other times throughout the year.
